Advanced Thermal Imaging for Damp and Moisture Investigations

At SurveyAll, we continue to invest in advanced inspection technology to provide our clients with a higher level of accuracy and confidence during damp and moisture investigations. We now utilise the FLIR E8 Pro professional thermal imaging camera, one of the most advanced thermal cameras currently available for residential building diagnostics.

Thermal imaging allows us to detect subtle temperature variations across walls, ceilings, chimney breasts, floors, and other building elements without causing damage to the property. Areas affected by moisture often display different thermal characteristics compared with dry surrounding surfaces. This enables hidden patterns of dampness, water penetration, thermal bridging, condensation risk, and insulation defects to be identified quickly and efficiently.

The FLIR E8 Pro provides exceptionally detailed thermal imaging with enhanced clarity and precision. Its advanced MSX® technology combines visible light detail with thermal data to create sharp, easy-to-interpret images that clearly highlight areas of concern. This produces highly readable evidence which can support more accurate diagnoses and clearer explanations within our reports.

Unlike basic moisture testing methods alone, thermal imaging helps reveal the distribution and behaviour of moisture across larger areas, including locations not immediately visible to the naked eye. This is particularly valuable when investigating chimney breasts, external walls, roof leaks, concealed dampness, condensation-related mould growth, and cold bridging.

The use of professional-grade thermal imaging also reduces unnecessary invasive investigation during the initial assessment stage. This allows us to carry out more informed inspections while minimising disruption to the property wherever possible.

By incorporating high-resolution thermal imaging technology into our damp surveys, we are able to provide clients with clearer evidence, improved defect interpretation, and greater confidence in our findings and recommendations.
